  • The Twin Falls Animal Shelter is waiving adoption fees until New Year’s Eve thanks to sponsorship from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and has seen a holiday surge in adoptions, while its $1.3 million expansion project still needs additional funding.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tomorrow, Jan. 1, recreation areas in Wood River Valley will be off-limits to snowmobiles and other off-highway vehicles until Apr. 30 to protect deer and elk (according to the BLM).  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mountain West Food Group LLC has recalled nearly 3,000 lbs of Forward Farms (grass fed) ground beef due to possible E. coli contamination; consumers are urged to check their packages and discard or return the beef if the use or freeze by date is Jan. 13, with no illnesses reported.  KEZJ
  • Idaho will receive nearly $186 million in 2026 from the Rural Health Transformation Program to improve rural access, training and infrastructure for local clinics and tribal health programs, a move authorized by the One Big Beautiful Bill.  KMVT
  • Mountain West Food Group has recalled nearly 3,000 pounds of Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef after routine testing found E. coli O26 on the product+ consumers should check packaging and discard or return beef marked to use or freeze by Jan. 13, and seek medical help if symptoms develop.  1310 KLIX
  • Mountain West Food Group in Heyburn recalled nearly 3,000 pounds of raw ground beef today after routine tests found possible E. coli contamination—consumers are urged to check their freezers and discard the 16-ounce packages from the December 16 production.  KMVT
