  • Orton Botanical Gardens will host a holiday toy drive event on Friday, Dec. 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 867 Filer Avenue West (featuring Santa, free cookies and cocoa) where toy donations and cash gifts will help local families.  1310 KLIX
  • Hazelton woman Cindy Day was honored Tuesday at the Greater Twin Falls Transportation meeting for helping prevent a man from taking his own life on Perrine Bridge by offering prayer and support (she remains in touch with him), county officials said.  KMVT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Shoshone Ice Cave is asking for donations to fund a new replacement walkway after its September bridge collapse injured several visitors (one visitor was airlifted), and engineers are working on future upgrades.  Local News 8

  • Burger King has introduced a new SpongeBob meal at Twin Falls that features a Krabby Whopper with a yellow square bun, cheesy bacon tots served in a treasure chest, Starberry Shortcake Pie and a frozen pineapple float in honor of the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants movie on Dec. 19.  1310 KLIX

  • Kimberly High School honored Breah Dansie as Scholar of the Week for outstanding academic performance — an accolade given today by school faculty in Twin Falls.  Times-News

  • Twin Falls stargazers can watch the Geminid meteor showers peak with 100 to 150 bright yellow meteors per hour over the weekend. The event is set for Dec. 13 (Saturday) and Dec. 14 (Sunday), and viewers are advised to seek dark sites away from city lights.  1310 KLIX
