COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Shoshone Ice Caves are asking for donations to pay for safety upgrades after three visitors were injured in August - new walkways and lighting will be added to improve access. Construction will start in February or March and finish by May 1 so the caves can reopen safely.  KMVT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A vehicle carrying an oversized load struck Vinyard Bridge Monday around 9:40 a.m., prompting the Idaho Transportation Department to inspect the bridge and keep eastbound Interstate 84 between Twin Falls and Kimberly in one lane while its planned reopening is now at risk.  KMVT

  • The historic Stricker home is decked out with festive holiday decor for an open house + a Friends of Stricker volunteer said it has quickly become a favorite way to end the year.  Times-News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA Idaho reported that gas statewide fell 12 cents this week to $3.11, while Twin Falls dropped only five cents to $3.18 — nearby cities now enjoy prices below $3, and experts expect further declines as crude oil prices drop.  KMVT

  • Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador warns Idahoans to be alert for charity scams during the holiday season as International Charity Fraud Awareness Week begins Monday; he advises verifying charity registrations + avoiding suspicious payment methods.  Local News 8
  • The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office dedicated its law enforcement complex Monday to honor fallen Deputy Henry C. Givens, who died 90 years ago while pursuing a suspect; dozens of community members attended the ceremony to remember his service.  KMVT
  • Secretary of Energy Chris Wright supported plans to expand U.S. nuclear capacity from 100 GW to 400 GW during a tour of Idaho National Lab on Monday. He said reactors are planned to reach criticality by July 4 next year & the visit marked grounds for a nuclear renaissance.  Local News 8
  • Gov. Brad Little announced the renewal of the Shared Stewardship agreement with the U.S. Forest Service, which is expected to double timber sales across the state.  Times-News

  • The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 22 at 12 pm on blue turf as Washington State Cougars face Utah State Aggies. Utah State is set to join Washington State in the Pac-12 next year (setting up a potential rivalry).  1310 KLIX
