COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The annual Christmas in the Nighttime Sky moved for the first time in 34 years to Twin Falls County Fairgrounds in Filer and drew a record crowd of over 3,300 people; organizer Dave Wendell said planning in January will address improvements such as adding vendors and better crowd control—measures designed to manage the growing turnout for next year.  KMVT
  • Twin Falls Police announced that Main Avenue between Jerome Street and Castleford Street will be closed at 2 p.m. on Friday for setup for the Festival of Lights Parade; the street will remain closed until the event and pedestrian traffic clears the area — drivers are advised to park in lots along 2nd Avenue West and 2nd Avenue. This action helps crews safely prepare for the parade while ensuring downtown movement stays organized.  KMVT

CULTURE NEWS

  • A recent ranking placed Idaho 35th among fun states—many locals in Twin Falls and across the area are angry, arguing that the state’s many outdoor events and seasonal activities prove it remains a lively place to live.  KEZJ

  • Filer High School's Mikaela Dodge has been named Scholar of the Week+ she is recognized for her strong academic work and dedication to her studies.  Times-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Twin Falls will mail out a letter for the National Community Survey to some households to ask about quality of life topics such as the economy, mobility, and safety — the survey results will help guide future city decisions. Residents can sign up online to get email notifications when the survey is ready.  1310 KLIX
  • The Idaho Transportation Department hosted an open house Tuesday evening to gather feedback on two designs to improve the busy intersection at Idaho Route 50 and Rock Creek Road northeast of Kimberly. The two plans—one that adds a permanent cul-de-sac and another that repositions cul-de-sacs with a stoplight, road widening and extra right-turn lanes—aim to reduce crashes, with public comments accepted online through Dec. 16 and construction set to begin by 2031.  KMVT
