COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Valley View Veterinary Clinic is hosting the 2025 Christmas Pet Photo Contest where pet owners can send festive photos to win prizes. Photos (JPG or PNG) must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. MST on December 21, and finalists will be posted for voting from December 22 to 28 before winners are chosen.  KEZJ
  • Valley View Veterinary Clinic is hosting the 2025 Christmas pet photo contest and invites pet owners to submit high-quality photos of their pets celebrating the season until December 21. Finalists will be chosen by Townsquare Media employees and posted for voting from December 22 to 28, with three winners selecting prizes — including an overnight stay at Cactus Pete’s and gift cards from Valley Country Store and CAL Ranch.  1310 KLIX

CULTURE NEWS

  • A former member of a local musical group revived a shelved Christmas production that will soon premiere in Twin Falls+ the show is expected to bring fresh holiday spirit to the town.  Times-News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Twin Falls fell 12 cents this week to $3.23 a gallon, according to AAA of Idaho. The agency said prices will drop farther in the next few weeks—bringing hope for even lower costs as winter sets in.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Sheriff’s Association warned state leaders that cuts to mental health funding starting December 1 have hurt public safety and forced local law enforcement to handle more crises. The letter said ending key programs (such as ACT Teams and intensive outpatient programs) will push more vulnerable people into emergency care and add costs to counties.  Local News 8
  • Idaho officials warned drivers that snow and ice are making roads dangerous during the early winter transition and urged them to slow down and use emergency kits. The Idaho Transportation Department will host a winter safety course on Dec 15 from 5 to 7 p.m.—it is important that drivers prepare for changing conditions.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • The South Central Public Health District reported that HIV and AIDS cases in Magic Valley have risen, with 15 new HIV cases and nine new AIDS cases instead of the usual five and two—officials said more testing and a growing population are behind the increase. Free rapid testing clinics will be offered—one on Dec. 4 in Twin Falls and another on Dec. 9 in Jerome.  KMVT
