COMMUNITY NEWS

  • DSP’s Doing Good, a non-profit that aids families and caregivers, is distributing Thanksgiving meals across the Magic Valley—providing both perishable and non-perishable items and helping over 50 people so far as the drive continues through Wednesday.  KMVT
  • Southern Idaho residents donated nearly 1,700 turkeys during the Twin Falls 60 Hours to Fight Hunger event held at Smith's Food on Addison Avenue—Rob Green GMC on Blue Lakes Boulevard as volunteers gathered cash, food boxes and non-perishables to support local families.  KEZJ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A recent study shows that Idaho has the slowest average internet speed among all states—lower than Montana, Wyoming, and Arkansas—because rural and mountainous areas make broadband expansion challenging.  1310 KLIX

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dr. Russ Tremayne from Preservation Twin Falls told KMVT that Idaho gained its nickname during the 19th-century mining boom when prospectors flocked to dig for gems and metals, which spurred booming mining towns. Mike Metzler of the Magic Valley Gem Club said locals still search for rare gemstones today—keeping the state's mining legacy alive.  KMVT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Filer High School named Abigail Romasz as Scholar of the Week—she was honored for her good grades and hard work. The recognition is part of the school’s ongoing effort to celebrate student achievement.  Times-News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials lowered the water level at Silver Lake in Harriman State Park for scheduled maintenance on a failing headgate so crews could access the area—environmental groups worry for local fish habitat but staff said they observed no major impact to fish or waterfowl. Repairs continue after further damage was discovered during the process.  Local News 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction crews will start demolishing the old Lincoln Avenue bridge on Sunday, leading to nightly closures on I-84 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for several weeks as drivers must use interchange ramps (except Friday and Saturday nights) while work is (weather dependent).  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Idaho health officials reported a rise in raw milk-related illnesses since Aug.1—23 Campylobacter cases and three cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli were recorded, including two hospitalizations and six cases in children. Officials warned that unpasteurized dairy products can cause severe symptoms and advised anyone feeling ill to seek medical care.  KMVT
  • The South Central Public Health District reported more HIV and AIDS cases in 2025 than in 2024 across eight counties. Health officials urged residents to be careful and will offer free HIV screenings at Twin Falls on Dec. 4 and at Jerome on Dec. 9 — Spanish services will be available.  KMVT
