COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Between November 20 and November 22, Twin Falls residents supported the 60 Hours to Fight Hunger drive by donating about 1,700 turkeys at Smith's Food and Drug on Addison Avenue and at Rob Green GMC on Blue Lakes Boulevard—cash donations are being counted to purchase additional turkeys for families in need.  1310 KLIX
  • The City of Twin Falls placed a Christmas tree in Downtown Commons to prepare for the Festival of Lights Parade that will begin on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. along Main Avenue and feature food vendors and holiday attractions. The tree will be decorated before the event and replanted in city parks after the festivities.  KMVT
  • Idaho agriculture leader Carl Hobbs died peacefully on November 20 at his Blackfoot home at age 96. He helped start Spudnik Equipment Company in 1958—changing potato farming, and his viewing will be held on November 28 with his funeral on November 29.  Local News 8
  • Residents of Twin Falls participated in a Canyon Trail 5K walk to learn concrete steps to end homelessness and hunger + a mother told her child that every small effort matters, highlighting practical actions for change. The event boosted local awareness of social challenges and encouraged community involvement.  Times-News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The annual Christmas in the Nighttime Sky event is moving to a new location—Twin Falls County Fairgrounds in Filer—to better manage parking and add extra bonfires and vendor booths during its 34th year. Opening at 5 p.m. this Friday, the event will offer a free chili and potato dinner, live music, a visit from Santa, fireworks, and families must provide one unwrapped toy per household for entry.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department and State Police will offer free winter driving classes starting Dec. 15 at the ISP office in Jerome—218 W. Yakima Ave.—to teach drivers techniques for icy roads and snowy conditions.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Twin Falls County Fairgrounds has temporarily banned horse stalling due to EHV-1, a contagious virus that can cause respiratory illnesses and sometimes severe neurologic issues in horses. The ban is a precaution and will end when thorough stall cleaning is complete, and upcoming events such as Christmas in the Nighttime Sky remain scheduled.  1310 KLIX
