COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Santa and his reindeer will appear in Twin Falls’ Festival of Lights Parade on Main Avenue on Dec. 5 — the parade will feature festive lights and holiday cheer to welcome families.  Times-News
  • Today at 7 p.m., the CSI men’s basketball team plays Umpqua Community College while residents prepare for holiday events this weekend including Cowboy Christmas (admission $5) at the County Fairgrounds, the Country Road Craft Market in Buhl, and a free movie at the public library on Saturday. Additional events will include wine tasting at Rudy’s (tickets $50), an improv comedy show with a Dungeons and Dragons theme at the Orpheum Theatre, and a World War I musical at the Twin Falls Theatre Collective.  1310 KLIX

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reports that gas prices in Twin Falls fell to $3.33 a gallon, matching the state average (Boise is at $3.36 and Lewiston at $3.15). Crude oil dropped nearly $3 per barrel to about $58, and analysts say this may affect future savings.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Twin Falls closed access to Shoshone Falls Park because high water levels at Dierkes Lake are causing overflow that is damaging local roadways—city crews set up tarps and sandbags to manage the water while officials hope to reopen the roadway by spring. Other city parks remain open for visitors.  KMVT
  • Eastbound Interstate 84 will close from 8 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Friday between the Twin Falls and Kimberly interchanges for repairs on Vinyard Bridge — drivers will exit at Twin Falls and follow State Highway 25 to rejoin I-84 with more nighttime closures possible later this week.  KMVT
