COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Magic Valley Card Show will take place Saturday, October 18 at the Twin Falls County Fairgrounds from 10 AM to 5 PM — offering local card collectors a chance to buy, sell, and trade various cards. Admission is free and the event is expected to draw many enthusiasts looking for rare finds.  1310 KLIX
  • Valley View Veterinary Clinic has launched the 2025 Halloween Pet Photo Contest for local pet owners, inviting entries with a Fall or Halloween theme to be submitted via the station app by November 3rd at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be chosen by community voting beginning November 4th and announced on November 20th—prizes include an overnight stay, a gift card, and football tickets.  1310 KLIX

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Idaho Transportation Department's second annual Name a Snowplow contest invites students in grades 6-12 statewide to submit a snowplow name by Oct. 31 following specific rules on name length and classroom entry. Department employees will vote in November and announce 12 winners in December — winning classrooms will be visited by plows from December through February.  KMVT
  • Filer School District has two levies on the November ballot; one is the Plant Facilities Levy to fund building maintenance at $300,000 per year over ten years, and the other is a Supplemental Levy to raise $650,000 over two years for extracurricular activities and teacher salaries+state funds help lower taxpayer costs. If the levies do not pass, the school board will rework them for the May election and may hold a community night at the district office to answer questions.  KMVT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Todd Eccles went hunting with his children over the weekend in southern Idaho and encountered a giant bull moose when his group did not bag any deer. Idaho Fish and Game noted that the region’s moose population is growing—so local hunters are urged to stay cautious around these curious animals.  KEZJ

FINANCE NEWS

  • Idaho AT&T customers whose personal information was breached in March and July 2024 may be owed money from a national class-action settlement if they submit a claim online by December 18. Customers with receipts may receive up to $5,000—others will get a prorated cash payment.  1310 KLIX
