COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Chobani will award grants to groups fighting food insecurity while the Idaho Community Foundation has granted more than $1 million to support communities across the Magic Valley. The funds will help local organizations improve food access and community health.  Times-News
  • Today, Filer’s only coffee shop, Caffeination Station, serves breakfast sandwiches, coffee drinks, and seasonal specials through a drive-thru and patio seating for customers from the local schools. Owner Krystal Lineberry said the shop stays open weekdays from 6am to 4pm and Saturdays from 6am to 1pm—ensuring quick, friendly service that keeps the community connected.  KMVT

  • Residents in Twin Falls are warned of a new phone scam that repeatedly calls and leaves urgent voicemails—pretending to be Venmo—for claims of account hacks; experts advise ignoring calls marked 'Spam Risk' and checking messages through official channels.  1310 KLIX

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Twin Falls will shut off pressurized irrigation stations on Oct.20, and water is expected to return around late April plus residents are urged to winterize valves and lines to prevent freeze damage while local contractors offer winterization services.  KMVT
  • The Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office now offers free surveys and advice for churches and workplaces to help prevent attacks—many local groups already have safety plans in place. Today at 7:15 a.m., law enforcement and a trainer will discuss these measures on Newsradio 96.1.  KEZJ
  • Shoshone Falls Grade is closed due to higher water flows near Dierkes Lake Park that are causing road damage; crews are using plastic sheeting and sandbags — a temporary ditch solution — as the city urges drivers to follow all closure signs.  KMVT
  • Idaho Fish and Game puts animal decoys in the woods to catch hunters who break the rules—if a hunter fires at a decoy in a no-shoot zone, they may face penalties.  KEZJ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rock Creek Fire unveiled its new wellness room to help firefighters relax and recover both mentally and physically; the room features a massage chair, ice bath and sauna that grew from a suggestion by driver/operator Chris Johnson—whose 80-day project was supported by donors.  KMVT
