  • It is Fire Prevention Week and local officials urge residents to check their working smoke alarms to help prevent fires as the Twin Falls Fire Department has seen an increase in home fires with lithium ion batteries. The department will partner with the American Red Cross for a Sound the Alarm event this Saturday, October 11—volunteers are still needed to install detectors.  KMVT

  • Private businesses in Idaho can legally refuse to accept cash — federal and state law does not require them to take it, though state agencies like the DMV must accept cash. Customers who prefer using paper money can choose shops that still allow cash payments.  1310 KLIX

  • Gas prices in Twin Falls have held at $3.45 per gallon this week while the state average dipped slightly to $3.47 compared to last week. AAA Idaho said that rising crude oil costs may briefly disrupt a seasonal pattern — officials expect prices to fall further into Fall.  KMVT

  • Twin Falls officials began a prescriptive treatment to remove quagga mussels today— the work will last until Friday as only full success meets the goal.  Times-News
