  • Local residents can enjoy many fall events this weekend in the Magic Valley including Tubbs Berry Farm’s duck-shaped hay maze open Thursday from 3 PM to 9 PM, a CSI volleyball match on Thursday at 6 PM and Saturday at 1 PM, and the AKC All-Breed Dog Show at the County Fairgrounds running Friday through Sunday. Other events include the Shop-Tober Sidewalk Sale at Magic Valley Mall from 10 AM to 6 PM, a watercolor class at Historic Wilson Theatre on Friday at 7 PM, The Haunted Swamp open Friday and Saturday starting at 7:30 PM, a Harvest Moon car show in Buhl on Saturday, a free Movie Matinee at the Public Library on Saturday at 3 PM, and the Doves on the Run 5K on Sunday at 10 AM—providing locals many fun ways to celebrate fall.  1310 KLIX

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Local law enforcement warns drivers on Eastland Drive near Kimberly Road that recent rains have caused the railroad underpass to collect water and create hazardous driving conditions. The department said harvest season will make roads slick from muddy tires and slow-moving farm equipment, so drivers should stay alert.  KEZJ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Laurence Brown, a British-born man who is now American and runs the Lost in the Pond channel, praised Twin Falls in a new video where he wore a Twin Falls hat and talked about local favorites like fry sauce and pecan pie—he said American Thanksgiving is extra special compared to his native country.  KEZJ
  • The potato, which came from Peru during the mid-1800s, now thrives in Idaho because of ideal climate and soil. Hansen Farms in Minidoka County harvests millions for food and the Potato Museum in Blackfoot honors its role in shaping our state — a vital part of local heritage.  KMVT

  • Federal workers in Southeastern Idaho are preparing for furloughs and temporary layoffs as a government shutdown is underway today, with USDA offices showing effects by closing their visitor center—while Social Security continues operations normally.  Local News 8
  • Local officials announced today an airline incentive program designed to attract new flights to Twin Falls; details—such as program benefits for airlines—will be shared soon.  Times-News
  • Buhl will elect three new City Council members and possibly a new mayor in November — the race has the current mayor facing a challenger and six people running for council seats.  Times-News
