COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today in the Magic Valley, CSI soccer teams play in Jerome and a 9/11 Memorial event honors those lost—this weekend will also include a Princess Tea Party at the Historic Wilson Theatre, vendor shows, an exotic pet expo, Comic Con, and a movie matinee with a voice actor Q&A.   • A free event will be held at Eagle Fest on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—CSI celebrates its 60th birthday and invites the community to join the festivities.  Times-News
  • Girl Scouts of Silver Sage announced that a new cookie called Exploremores will debut later this year with a recipe inspired by Rocky Road Ice Cream made with chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond creme — it will be sold at local booths while classic Thin Mint remains unchanged.  KEZJ
  • A memorial event organized by the Magic Valley 9/11 Memorial will honor 2,977 victims and show a piece of Trade Center steel along with the largest American flag ever flown on Perrine Bridge today at 5:30 p.m. Twin Falls City Hall says attendees must park in designated areas — transportation is available on request for those with mobility concerns.  KMVT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • U.S. News and World Report updated its ranking of 24,000 public high schools and now lists 157 Idaho schools, including Twin Falls High School, which has a 90% graduation rate and 31% AP participation—while Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy is the top-ranked in the state. The ranking measured AP and IB exam rates along with graduation data to show academic performance for the coming school year.  KEZJ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Twin Falls approved the Ride TFT contract for a third year and set a local match for federal funds to run its microtransit service—this will let local commuters have more ride options.  Times-News
  • Twin Falls officials announced there will be no new rules for Airbnb rentals—property owners will continue to follow existing guidelines without additional restrictions.  Times-News
