COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Twin Falls has seen its parking lots blocked by festival goers during downtown events—forcing older parishioners to park several blocks away for weekend Masses and Vigils. Church members say the issue has hurt collections but no formal complaint has been filed.  KEZJ
  • This Saturday, United Way will host its first benefit concert featuring Hunter Hayes at the Cassia County Fairgrounds in Burley to raise money for 25,000 meals for children and to highlight food insecurity in the Magic Valley - Hayes said he is grateful for the chance to support the community and would consider returning for future concerts.  KMVT
  • Tubbs Berry Farm will open on September 19 and run until November 1, offering pumpkin patches, a straw maze and other fall activities. The farm recently added new hayrides that are wheelchair accessible—ensuring more guests can enjoy the festivities.  KMVT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jerome School District said it was making changes to fix its student transportation issues after Superintendent Brent Johnson sent an email on Friday. The district will email updated routes and pickup times on Thursday—set to be implemented on Sept. 15—and drivers will practice the new routes beforehand to improve safety.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is accepting public comments on recent cuts to Medicaid doctor pay rates—health care providers treating Medicaid patients may submit feedback during the comment period.  Times-News
