ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At about 3:12 p.m. on Friday, a pickup truck T-boned a Jeep at the intersection with North 2600 East on U.S. Highway 30 west of Twin Falls, injuring at least one person who was airlifted to a nearby hospital and prompting law enforcement to reopen the westbound lanes at North 2700 East.  KMVT

CRIME NEWS

  • Twin Falls Police are searching for missing 72-year-old Val Rickie Grinsted who has gray hair and blue eyes, stands 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds, and is believed to be driving a silver Toyota Prius—anyone with information should call non-emergency dispatch.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Maxine Durand, who announced her candidacy earlier this year, attended a town hall meeting at the Lamphouse Theater to share her vision for universal Medicare, affordable housing, school funding and improved public transportation while running as an independent. She needs one thousand signatures by November and aims to raise $10,000 by February to secure her place on the ballot.  KMVT
  • On Wednesday night, Aug. 27, local officials met face-to-face with 40 constituents at Stone House and Co. in Twin Falls for a Speed Representing event where they discussed local taxes, infrastructure, and education over cocktails and Coors Light—residents said the respectful talks helped make officials seem more human.  Times-News
  • The Idaho Transportation Department is urging drivers to avoid impaired driving with its 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign ahead of Labor Day weekend—warning that 86 lives were lost in 2024 and penalties may rise from misdemeanor fines to felony charges if crashes occur.  KMVT
