ECONOMY NEWS

  • At a Business Plus meeting in Rupert on Aug. 14, Idaho Senate Pro Tem Kelly Anthon said Gov. Little will order budget holdbacks within days—this step aims to balance revenue after large tax cuts and new federal tax rules. He explained that while Idaho’s economy remains strong with growing business and population, cities must adjust spending for rising needs.  Times-News

  • Magic Valley schools released academic calendars for the 2025-2026 year; some districts already began classes on August 12, 13, and 15 while others will start between August 18 and 20 and Xavier Charter School will begin on September 2—spring break for all is set for March 23-27.  1310 KLIX

  • Californians are driving to Idaho stores to buy shower heads because strict water rules at home limit how long they can shower—a local supply worker said the restrictions feel like a loss of freedom. HEALTH NEWS

  • A Twin Falls County resident over the age of 65 died from West Nile virus, the state's first death this year, as announced by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The department urged residents to protect themselves with insect repellent and by removing standing water—key steps to help prevent mosquito bites.  KMVT
