- ➤ Outdoor enthusiasts in Idaho should remain cautious as snake season is active with schools in session—safety tips advise avoiding tall grass, weedy areas and crevices while urging immediate medical help if a rattlesnake bite occurs. The state is home to 12 snake species including 2 venomous rattlesnakes that conserve energy in winter rather than hibernate. KEZJ
