COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At the Twin Falls County Fair, the Tater Pig booth (a 70-year tradition) will not return this year after fair officials dropped vendors for low profits. Many local fans are disappointed by the loss of this unique fair food tradition.  1310 KLIX

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A three-vehicle crash in Buhl occurred Monday at 3:30 p.m. on North 1700 East near the East 3900 North intersection— a tractor mowing weeds was hit by a semitruck, causing the tractor driver to suffer minor injuries and leading to a temporary road closure.  KMVT
  • A semitruck and a tractor crashed southwest of Buhl at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, closing North 1700 East between East 3900 and East 3800 and sending the tractor driver to a hospital with minor injuries as deputies investigate the incident.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a March vote, Twin Falls City Council began including invocations at its meetings and received nine applications from local faith leaders and residents—Rabbi Tony Prater gave the first prayer on July 7 and activist Maria Hernandez led Monday's invocation at City Hall—and the practice follows a long-standing tradition in nearby Jerome.  Times-News
  • The Twin Falls courthouse construction is delayed because the elevators have not arrived yet, so the planned ribbon cutting is now pushed to October rather than later this month+County Commissioner Rocky Matthews said some offices will move in early to ease cramped conditions.  KEZJ
  • Twin Falls Police Department is hiring a second victim services coordinator to guide crime victims in cases such as domestic violence and opioid-related issues—using nearly $1M from a nationwide pharmaceutical settlement for these services. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, trauma-informed care experience, and a valid Idaho driver’s license—qualifications that will help support victims through the legal process.  KMVT
  • The Twin Falls Water Department will install a new water valve at the Blue Lakes Boulevard and Kimberly Road intersection on August 7 at 8:30 p.m.—the work is expected to last until early Friday morning, around 1:00 a.m.—as lanes on Blue Lakes are limited to one in each direction.  KMVT
