Good morning, Twin Falls. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 31st of July.

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local historian Dr. Russ Tremayne explained how the Oregon Trail shaped our region as he led a tour of Desert Station—a former stage stop where pioneers once got water and traded horses. Twin Falls County plans to turn the site into a park, with construction set to finish by Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • A study by the Cecil G. Sheps Center flags three Idaho hospitals — Power County Hospital District, St. Luke’s Jerome and Cassia Regional Hospital — as at risk because they serve many Medicaid patients and have had three years of losses, and experts warn that if these facilities close or cut services, communities between Twin Falls and Idaho Falls may lose important health care options.  KEZJ
  • Three Idaho hospitals (Power County Hospital District, St. Luke’s Jerome, and Cassia Regional) were named in a study as at risk for closing due to federal Medicaid restrictions and ongoing financial challenges; local observers worry that any shutdowns may create a healthcare gap between Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. The hospitals have not announced any plans to change their services.  1310 KLIX
  • Idaho stores are recalling 14 ice cream bar flavors from Tropicale Foods because an undeclared milk allergen could trigger a life-threatening reaction for those with a milk allergy. Consumers should check their freezers (including items from La Michoacana and Helados Mexico) at retailers (Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Walmart) and dispose of any recalled products.  1310 KLIX
