BUSINESS NEWS

  • Jack in the Box announced it will close roughly 200 stores in Idaho, Washington & Utah, with 80 to 120 locations set to shut by the end of the year & underperforming stores being targeted for closure.  1310 KLIX

CRIME NEWS

  • Idaho State Police started a crackdown on speeding after traffic deaths rose from 113 to 126 and will patrol roads until July 26th—drivers are urged to obey speed limits near known speed traps in the Treasure Valley.  1310 KLIX

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CSI will require nearly 1,000 students to show a birth certificate or other legal document before they can take career and technical courses this fall due to a new federal rule. The college will send letters to the students and exempt those with federal aid—students who do not provide proof will be dropped from the courses.  Times-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • BLM said back to back fires occurred this past weekend in Magic Valley with the Countyline Fire in Jerome and the Buckhorn Fire just south of Murtaugh Lake; the Buckhorn Fire was contained Sunday at 8 p.m. and will be mopped up today at 7 p.m. The Twin Falls District fire season is below average so far, and 230 personnel + mutual aid from neighboring districts keep the area ready while officials urge residents to be cautious on public lands.  KMVT
