- ➤ The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office warned that scammers are circulating a fake federal arrest warrant across Magic Valley and the state to trick residents into giving personal and financial details by phone and email—officials said real warrants are never sent electronically and urged residents to verify with law enforcement. - ➤ A man faces manslaughter charges in Kimberly for a shooting at a mobile home park—records say suspects met there to settle a dispute. Times-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A new preschool at Sequoia Children's Center in downtown Twin Falls opened two weeks ago and will begin classes on Sept. 1, offering a place free of screens, plastic toys, and standard learning tools—teachers use handmade items from abroad to let kids lead their own education. Founder Sequoia Schmidt, who invested nearly $500,000 and runs several businesses, said she started the center to provide better childcare than she described as some of the worst and hopes to attract more families soon. - ➤ Idaho law treats e-bikes like regular bicycles so riders must follow bike lanes, traffic rules, and safety guidelines. This means e-bike users are not allowed to ride them like cars even though the bikes have motors & can be faster. 1310 KLIX
- ➤ Multiple construction projects in Twin Falls will cause street closures from July 21 into late August. The Eastland Drive project will remove lanes between Falls and Filer Avenues, water line repairs will close traffic from Addison to Filer until July 23, and work on Federation Road near the Twin Falls Gun Club will reduce lanes until August 27—flaggers will guide traffic with detours advised. - ➤ Retailers in Twin Falls have recalled over 24,000 pounds of chicken sausage made by Kayem Foods Inc. after three customers found white plastic in the product (the affected item is the Al Fresco Sweet Apple with Vermont maple syrup flavor with lot code 179 and use-by date Oct 01). 1310 KLIX
- ➤ Two Magic Valley emergency services received a grant from the Greater Idaho Health Coalition to buy a portable automated chest compression system known as the LUCAS device—this new system helps save time and improve CPR quality during emergencies. Magic Valley Paramedics will also purchase another unit to deploy in Jerome County later this year. KMVT
