  • A recent Facebook post claims that 10 to 12 men were seen watching children and taking pictures at Dierkes Lake, which caused local families to leave the area quickly—officials said the men are not breaking any laws. Parents are advised to keep a close watch on their children and inform authorities if they see any suspicious behavior.  1310 KLIX

CRIME NEWS

  • Twin Falls Police warn apartment seekers about fake rental listings as scammers post ads on sites like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist to trick victims into paying deposits before viewing apartments. Detective Jason Kelly and property manager Corrine Benavides urge renters to use official realtor sites and watch for red flags (such as low prices and requests for untraceable payments) to avoid fraud.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Twin Falls experienced several water main breaks this summer—one break on Blue Lakes Boulevard stopped traffic and led Public Works to repair the pipe; the department upgrades aging pipes during roadwork projects to better handle water flow.  KMVT
  • A new law in Idaho lets drivers pass on two-lane roads by going up to 15 mph over the speed limit when a passing lane exists. The law, which took effect on July 1, does not apply if the speed limit is under 55 mph or if a vehicle is towing (restrictions apply).  1310 KLIX
  • On Tuesday, July 8th, first responders, utility workers and officials met at County West in Twin Falls for an emergency planning meeting that included a drill simulating a high-pressure natural gas pipeline rupture — a scenario designed to test evacuation and fire response plans. Spencer Pulliam of Williams Pipeline led the exercise as local leaders reviewed steps to better prepare for severe weather and other hazards.  Times-News
