ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A semi truck crashed on I-84 at mile marker 173 near Twin Falls on Wednesday night — the accident spilled molasses and diesel fuel over 200 feet of highway while the driver remained uninjured and crews took six hours to clear the roadway.  KEZJ
  • A 59-year-old truck driver from Nampa crashed his Mack semi-truck on I-84 near the Highway 93 interchange in an active construction zone north of Twin Falls around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, spilling molasses and diesel fuel over 200 feet while remaining uninjured.  1310 KLIX
  • Traffic deaths in Idaho rose in recent months due to rural crashes from distracted driving and not wearing seatbelts—officials believe tougher fines and increased caution during harvest and irrigation seasons can help reduce these risky behaviors.  KEZJ

  • Walmart recalled nearly 850,000 Ozark Trail 64 oz. Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottles (sold in-store and online since 2017 for about $15) after reports showed the lid can eject and cause injuries, including two cases of permanent vision loss among three incidents, and customers should stop using them and request a refund.  KMVT
  • The Brick and Beyond—a new store selling LEGO sets and collectible items opened on Main Avenue in Downtown Twin Falls today. The store offers a mix of new and retired sets, special birthday packages and a play area for LEGO building.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Twin Falls said it stopped staffing lifeguards at Dierkes Lake Park in 2018 and will reinstate them during peak times in response to social media safety concerns—officials explained that the decision is based on budget and other factors. LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Idahoans can use a freezer hack to check food safety after a power outage—by freezing a coffee mug of water with a quarter on top to see if the food stayed frozen. If the quarter stays on the ice, the food remains safe; if it sinks, perishable items should be thrown out.  KEZJ
