ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Piper PA-30 landed without its landing gear at Magic Valley Regional Airport on Monday afternoon—rescue crews and a local tow company removed the plane after confirming that hazards were contained and all occupants were safe. KMVT
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Reptile Zoo will soon leave its current home—its landlord deemed the building unsuitable—and will search for a new site so it can safely display its reptiles to local visitors. Supporters are asked to send any available land leads to help keep the zoo going. KEZJ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A report from the Idaho State Police showed that crime in Twin Falls dropped by 9.5% in 2024, but over 1,500 of the 2,852 cases were simple assaults, larcenies and drug offenses—police said more arrests came as a strong presence and alert neighbors helped clear cases. Times-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chobani and the College of Southern Idaho today launched a new scholarship program with Idaho Launch to assist CSI launch program students in receiving tuition assistance, books, and training if they maintain a GPA above 3.0. The program covers 80% of tuition through Idaho LAUNCH while Chobani pays 20% plus an extra $1,000 per year—students must have finished high school and apply before the fall semester begins. KMVT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Road crews from American Road Maintenance are beginning chip seal repairs in several Northwest Twin Falls neighborhoods today from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on workdays—drivers will be given a 48-hour notice on affected streets and must use detours while traffic restrictions are in place. KMVT
- ➤ City Manager Travis Rothweiler presented a 2026 budget proposal at the Twin Falls City Council meeting on Monday, outlining an 8% cost cut from fiscal 2025 as the city grows. The plan allocates funds for public safety, parks, and libraries — the council will review focus areas on Aug 4 with a vote scheduled for Aug 25 and public input encouraged. KMVT
- ➤ Repairs and improvements begin today on the first of 11 I-15 bridges north of Roberts when crews replace water-damaged concrete and install anti-skid surfacing on the northbound lanes at Exit 184 at Stoddard Creek & reroute traffic onto ramps. Travelers will face lane restrictions, lower speed limits, and intermittent one-lane closures of access roads through summer and fall & should plan alternate routes as needed. Local News 8
