- ➤ A 58-year-old man (Dean Krause) died on Sunday when his green Ford Ranger went over the edge of Snake River Canyon at the Perrine Bridge, and crews worked to secure the area as Centennial Park’s boat launch was closed. KMVT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 71 year old Twin Falls man named Stephen Barnes pleaded not guilty on Monday to eight felony counts of possessing or accessing child sexually exploitative material after police searched his home and took his cell phone—he now faces a pretrial conference set for Sept. 22 and a jury trial starting on Oct. 8. - ➤ Chairman of Senate Education Dave Lent held a brainstorming meeting at the College of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls this afternoon to discuss how best to serve students with local scholarship leaders and six state legislators—future sessions will convene later in July, September, and October to review ideas and shape legislative policy. - ➤ On Monday evening, the Twin Falls City Council approved funds and extended the state of emergency request to speed up contractor bidding after a water main break forced crews to dig up Blue Lakes Boulevard South; a $155,310 contract—below expected costs—was awarded and work will begin soon. - ➤ The Idaho Transportation Department plans a third bridge over the Snake River Canyon to ease traffic on the nearly 50-year-old Perrine Bridge—public input is invited through an online forum from June 30 until July 14 and a meeting on June 30 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Herrett Center on the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls. - ➤ Gov. Little highlighted new water measurement projects set up by the Twin Falls Canal Company along Highline Canal on Monday near Hansen and in Clover outside of Filer—using Rubicon SlipMeters to improve water control and conserve resources.
