ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Dry weather has made water companies nervous and the Idaho Water Resource Board will add $30 million to fund projects that sustain the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer—this money will cover canal upgrades, groundwater recharge, and flow monitoring. Twin Falls Canal Company said reservoirs are 90% full but runoff is expected to soon fall below demand.  KMVT

  • Twin Falls County deputies may soon wear new star outlines on their uniforms — with silver for deputies and gold for command staff — and Sheriff Johnson said the crowded county jail, following two major drug busts, will gain more deputies and extra space soon.  KEZJ
  • Filer has installed new speed limit signs to require a permanent 25 mph limit through town—officials said the change follows numerous safety complaints and increased traffic. Local police now use flashing signs and speed readers to remind drivers to slow down—ensuring safer travel for everyone.  KMVT

  • Pet owners in Idaho are warned that ticks are severe this year—pets may carry dozens of ticks that can spread quickly, so using tick medicine and checking your pet's skin and paws is crucial. Owners should act now to protect pets from these harmful parasites.  1310 KLIX
  • St. Luke’s Magic Valley held a ribbon-cutting Tuesday at the Twin Falls Visitor Center for its new mobile health clinic that will bring mammogram services directly to women, with over $450,000 in donations funding the project & boosting screening access in rural areas.  KMVT
  • FSIS warned that one pound vacuum-packed packages of Organic Rancher Organic Ground Beef with Use or Freeze dates June 19 and June 20 may have E. coli, a bacteria that can cause severe sickness with cramps, diarrhea, and dehydration.
