- ➤ Firefighters responded to a fire along Rock Creek Parkway on Friday, May 29 in Rock Creek Canyon (crews quickly worked to contain the blaze) as officials monitored the scene. Times-News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho State Department of Agriculture finished its third round of invasive quagga mussel testing along the mid-Snake after historic detections. Officials collected about 3,500 samples using a plankton net (their main method) and urge boaters to clean, drain and dry watercraft. KMVT
- ➤ The Twin Falls Canal Company reduced water deliveries due to drought and low snowpack, from 5/8 to 1/2 inch per acre, which forces farmers to adjust irrigation. The city urges those with irrigation systems to follow a schedule— even addresses on even dates and odd addresses on odd dates. KMVT
- ➤ Firefighter crews continue battling the Summit Creek Fire (10% contained) that started Memorial Day afternoon after lightning struck the mountains southeast of Oakley, burning over 1,200 acres. Crews with local agencies aim to contain the blaze by June 7, pending weather conditions. KMVT

- ➤ Idaho residents who get sick from radiation are now eligible for a federal $100,000 payment under the expanded RECA program; libraries are busy helping people gather old records (phone books and directories) to prove residency.
