  • Magic Valley walkers raised money for Make-A-Wish Idaho—granting a wish that gave a family with an ill child something to look forward to.  Times-News
  • Today, the Twin Falls Public Library launched Forktales on its lawn where residents can relax with food trucks and a live short story reading from noon to 1:30 p.m.—the event will run every Wednesday until June 25.  1310 KLIX

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Memorial Day weekend will start the 100 deadliest days of summer in Idaho, and officials warn drivers that distracted, impaired, and aggressive driving cause many fatal crashes — last year there were 82 reported traffic deaths during this period.  1310 KLIX

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Beginning May 27, the Twin Falls School District will offer complimentary breakfast and lunch for kids 18 and under at 10 summer meal sites — the program is expected to serve more meals than last year when it provided over 32,000 lunches and nearly 5,000 breakfasts. Additional food assistance is available on weekdays through the Twin Falls Community Council — no registration is required.  KMVT
  • Filer voters overwhelmingly rejected the proposed $52M bond for local schools — a measure that would have raised average homeowner property taxes by $769 per year.  Times-News

  • Experts say five dangerous bugs in Idaho are active as the weather warms, and their bites or stings can spread illnesses like West Nile Virus & Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. The list includes biting and stinging insects that may cause bad allergic reactions or serious health issues.  KEZJ

  • Polls closed on May 20 and unofficial results show voters rejecting a $52 million Filer School District bond along with proposed Gooding County Ambulance and Valley School District levies while approving measures for Burley Library, Castleford School, Buhl Joint School District, and Camas County Cemetery District.
