Good morning, Twin Falls. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 1st of May.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • GM is recalling over half a million vehicles with a crankshaft defect — the recall affects Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC models such as Escalades, Silverado 1500s, Suburbans, Tahoes, Sierra 1500s, and Yukons; owners should schedule repairs with their dealerships.  KEZJ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction in IORC v Labrador that blocked enforcement of House Bill 83, Idaho's new immigration law. The law would have charged illegal entry (a misdemeanor) and illegal reentry (a felony) and required police to check a person's documentation status, a move challenged by the ACLU of Idaho.  Local News 8
  • Today, the State of Idaho and the U.S. Department of Energy agreed to waive parts of the 1995 Settlement Agreement so Idaho National Laboratory can study used nuclear fuel containers to gather data for safe long-term storage—this research will support better reactor designs and help train future nuclear scientists.  KMVT
  • On May 7, the bottom part of Canyon Springs Grade next to Canyon Springs Golf Course will be closed from 10 p.m. until before 10 a.m. for irrigation repairs (access is limited to local residents and emergency traffic).  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent article warns that processed foods may include insects and unintended ingredients — a concern as the FDA continues to review food safety standards. While some people intentionally eat insects, most local residents stick to familiar foods — so they should remain alert to potential contaminants.  KEZJ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Roaring Springs is debuting a Dive-In Movie Series on its Wave Pool Stage with a new 25 foot by 16 foot LED screen that will show 10 family movies on Saturday nights between 7 and 7:30 p.m. from June 21 to August 23.
