- ➤ Foster families are invited to a special event at Massacre Rocks State Park to celebrate their vital support for children (an official noted their daily efforts make a difference). Times-News
- ➤ The Twin Falls Public Library closed on April 20 for recarpeting and will reopen on April 25. Staff moved 1,700+ items to the back of the building and will restore them when the new carpet is installed. KMVT
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Idaho farmers face a severe worker shortage that could lead to job losses in agriculture and other local industries. The shortage, with only 84 domestic applicants per 100 available roles, raises calls to expand H-2A programs or legalize the current workforce. KMVT
- ➤ Idahoan Foods will cease operations at its Rupert facility in coming months, affecting 61 local employees, and Rupert is working with the Idaho Department of Commerce & regional partners to attract new investment that could transform the site into industrial and food processing opportunities. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Low water levels at Salmon Falls Reservoir challenge boat launches amid a harsh drought in southern Idaho. Officials warn that summer fishing will be limited as minimal snowfall and rapid drainage leave little water for use (local images show a significant drop compared to past years). KEZJ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Idaho law enforcement will hold a ceremony on May 9 at Twin Falls Downtown Commons beginning at 11:00 a.m. to honor officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. KEZJ
- ➤ Voters will decide in May on creating a maintenance district for the veteran-run cemetery in Hansen, which would raise about $80,000 a year (roughly $16 per $100,000 of property value). Caretaker Greg Bryant says funds are needed to restore the 150-year-old burial ground. KMVT

- ➤ A recent study suggests that the herbicide picloram may be linked to an increase in colorectal cancer among young people in Idaho. Experts say multiple factors, including diet, could also play a role & local use of picloram remains unconfirmed. KEZJ
- ➤ A Your Health Idaho report shows that nearly 30,000 Idahoans may lose coverage this year when enhanced premium tax credits expire. The state saw a 3.6% drop in exchange enrollments after open enrollment ended in December amid higher premium costs & affordability concerns. KMVT
