  • Twin Falls Animal Shelter is urging locals to adopt stray pets as many cats and puppies need new homes this season. Staff shared stories like that of Huck—an older cat found along a road in Kimberly—who now enjoys a caring home.  KEZJ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • In September 2023, a 22-year-old worker from Filer was killed on a closed I-84 lane near Twin Falls when a 75-year-old California driver hit two traffic barrels and struck him as the setting sun reduced his view; officials said the driver should have slowed down to prevent the tragedy.  Times-News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Filer deputy will face no charges after he shot a teenager following an emergency call — a boy reported his brother had a knife and later said he was stabbed.  Times-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The education foundation named Twin Falls teachers of the year and awarded Meredith Haney from Rock Creek Elementary School and Megan Greenwood from Twin Falls High School a $1,000 cash prize each.  Times-News

  • Twin Falls will hold a ceremony and plant trees for Arbor Day—an event that marks over 27 years of its Tree City USA membership.  Times-News

  • During National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week, Jerome police and road workers urge drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones—lane changes and heavy equipment can lead to accidents—and help protect workers and other motorists.  KMVT
  • Today, Twin Falls begins restriping Main Avenue parking stalls, and the project is expected to take about two weeks—weather permitting.  Times-News
  • Twin Falls residents are urged to upgrade to a REAL ID-compliant card by May 7—this new ID will be needed for boarding commercial flights and entering federal facilities. Those who do not plan to use these services may continue with their current identification.  1310 KLIX
