  • Driscoll Brothers Farm is planting nearly 2,000 acres of potatoes with seven varieties, using careful preparation that began last fall - tractors and planters are in the fields today to protect the crop with fungicide.   • Food prices are rising in Twin Falls as energy costs and a meat shortage push up grocery bills, leaving even small households struggling today. Shoppers at discount stores report higher costs — a challenge for budget trips.  KEZJ
  • A manufacturing firm is considering an $800 million investment in Twin Falls – Jerome that could add 1,000 manufacturing and engineering jobs within five years.  Times-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hagerman Fire Protection District received a new type 1 structure engine on Monday afternoon as part of a $750,000 grant project and plans to use its larger water tank and four-wheel drive to enhance protection during this fire season, according to fire chief Tim Peterson.  KMVT
  • Idaho State Department of Agriculture opened watercraft inspection stations Wednesday to check boats, kayaks, and other vessels for the 2026 recreation season. The mandatory inspections help stop the spread of invasive species + require boaters to clean, drain and dry their equipment statewide.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cloverleaf Creamery voluntarily recalled its ice cream after a review found incomplete pasteurization affecting products (manufacturing codes 62-1 to 106-2) distributed across Idaho; customers are advised to return items and seek medical care if they experience illness.  KMVT
  • Twin Falls canal officials warned that as irrigation season begins the engineered canals are cold and fast-moving posing hazards with steep, slippery sides (with 10 to 15 calls reported annually) and they urge parents to supervise children and keep pets on a leash.  KMVT
  • St. Luke’s Wood River now offers a new ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound Technology) screening device to help detect cancer in women with dense breast tissue. The donation-funded tool saves patients a long trip and may encourage more early screenings.  KMVT
