EDUCATION NEWS

  • Residents in Kimberly gathered to discuss a proposed plant facilities levy and a $57.8 million bond for school updates that voters will consider on May 19 (the levy would raise taxes from $24 to about $40 per $100,000 of assessed value). Concerns focused on cost and long-term debt as the district seeks to balance growth, safety, and expenses.  KMVT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Critically low water levels in Twin Falls County leave some growers with only 10 days of supply, raising alarms about an ongoing drought + fire risks. Local officials warn that if dry conditions persist, long-term farming operations may face significant challenges.  KEZJ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Brad Little signed a proclamation on April 8 urging students to form Club America chapters, a student-led extracurricular focusing on activism, at the Statehouse. State superintendent Debbie Critchfield defended the move as supporting free speech (despite criticism that it blurs classroom neutrality) as schools navigate political engagement.  Local News 8

HEALTH NEWS

  • Strong by Nutrition in Twin Falls promotes good nutrition with shakes, healthy energy drinks, and snacks; the co-owners, Tatiana Holt and Aldin Alacron, launched the business in 2017 and continue to expand their menu while challenging old ideas about healthy food (including creative options like a 'snickers shake').  KMVT
