- ➤ Over Easter weekend, Twin Falls and the Magic Valley will host many events including multiple Easter egg hunts, Animal Days at the Burley Straw Maze from Thursday to Saturday, and an Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy at 360 Event Center on Thursday and Friday—other events include CSI baseball and softball games, a free movie at the Twin Falls Public Library, and family celebrations at local venues with ticket prices ranging from free to $55. 1310 KLIX
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ State leaders and law enforcement announced that a major drug trafficking investigation convicted 11 defendants for a fentanyl and methamphetamine conspiracy that smuggled drugs from Mexico into Idaho — the task force, which spanned from Idaho to Arizona and involved 10 agencies, seized over 48,000 fentanyl pills and 4 pounds of methamphetamine. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Power filed its final spring cost adjustments with the Public Utilities Commission, and if approved will lower bills for customers. A typical residential customer using 950 kilowatt-hours per month (saving about 8.26% or $9.97) will see the change take effect by June 1st. KEZJ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Idaho Fish and Game Commission ended the Snake River closure for hunting, fishing and trapping below the high-water mark near Twin Falls after quagga were detected on Sept. 29, 2023. Inspections and decontamination of watercraft at Centennial Waterfront Park and the Twin Falls power plant boat launch will continue—services provided free of charge. KMVT
- ➤ With REAL ID enforcement beginning on May 7, nearly 45% of Idaho residents do not have a compliant license and will need to secure an Idaho Star Card to board flights and enter federal buildings. DMV offices statewide, including Twin Falls (which does not offer online appointments), show limited scheduling options and long wait times for processing. KEZJ
- ➤ Beginning July 1st, certain Idaho cars will not need a front license plate—a change backed by classic car enthusiasts and explained by Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney Grant Loebs as a move that will make it tougher for police to read plates with surveillance cameras and shift some review to the courts. - ➤ With the federal REAL ID enforcement deadline on May 7 fast approaching, nearly half of Idahoans do not have a compliant ID and DMV appointments are scarce—causing long wait times in many counties.
