COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Magic Valley community gathered at Twin Falls Visitor Center on Saturday for the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event to raise sexual assault awareness by walking from the visitor center to the Perrine Bridge—participants wore heels to show solidarity with survivors. Voices Against Violence will host another walk at Rupert Square on April 26.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Twin Falls will close the intersection at Heyburn Avenue West and Martin Street from 6 p.m. Thursday, April 17 to Friday, April 18 for pavement replacement work—contractors will shift lanes on Carriage Lane between Atlas Avenue and Bermuda Avenue for maintenance while drivers are advised to use alternate routes.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • A pamphlet from the U.S. Forest Service lists nine toxic plants that can cause severe illness if touched or ingested. Residents are urged to avoid these plants (especially where children or pets play) while enjoying outdoor activities this spring and summer.  1310 KLIX
  • Officials have identified nine toxic plants in Idaho that pose a serious risk to people and pets—touching or eating them can lead to severe reactions or even death. The list, drawn from a U.S. Forest Service pamphlet, warns outdoor enthusiasts to be careful this spring and summer.  KEZJ
