COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Idaho Power is hosting open houses from now through the end of May to help local residents prepare for power outages - the first event is at Gooding High School on April 9th from 5-7pm, with further events at Best Western Plus in Burley on April 10th at 5pm and at Canyon Ridge High in Twin Falls on April 23rd. All events are open to everyone for updating emergency kits and reviewing outage plans. KMVT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Twin Falls mother Shianne Leslie Emery, 32, was sentenced in January to six years fixed & four years indeterminate in prison after her neglect led to the fentanyl exposure death of her 18-month-old child, and she must pay $31,700 in restitution. Times-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, over 1,000 FFA students began the 94th annual convention at CSI with the theme 'The Road Home,' where they will compete in contests, tour local industries and learn about agriculture until new state leaders are elected on Saturday + the event brings together students from across the Gem State. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Twin Falls city announced controlled burns will take place today near the Canyon Rim Trail to clear dead vegetation and improve stormwater drainage—Twin Falls Fire Department will be on scene to manage the burns. Construction on Eastland Drive also begins today with reduced speed limits, lane restrictions and temporary traffic signals set in place. KEZJ
- ➤ Today, the City of Twin Falls will conduct controlled burns along the Snake River Canyon rim near the Canyon Rim Trail to remove dead vegetation that affects sediment ponds used for stormwater drainage — the Twin Falls Fire Department will monitor the burns near the Meadow View area to ensure safety. 1310 KLIX
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Twin Falls is closing the left-most lane & road shoulder of Second Avenue East between Nevada Street and Murtaugh Street today for water line repairs. Work will start at 8:00 a.m. and finish by day’s end, so motorists must yield to workers. KMVT
- ➤ Nighttime closures on I-84 at the South Jerome Interchange will continue until mid-April so crews can form and place bridge abutments. Times-News
