CRIME NEWS

  • A Twin Falls resident received a fake arrest order by mail that demanded a $40,000 bond and falsely listed Alabama as the plaintiff—officials confirmed that arrest warrants are never mailed and urged residents to report scams.  KMVT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Twin Falls now features six new murals and art-wrapped electrical boxes on Main Avenue that cost about $27,000. City public information officer Josh Palmer said local artists made the pieces to showcase the community's spirit — residents are encouraged to view the vibrant art while the weather is nice.  KMVT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Twin Falls beekeeper Kirk Tubbs reported increased bee losses last year while Washington State University researchers warned that commercial hive losses might reach 70% this season compared to the usual 40–50% rate. Tubbs, who organized local beekeeping classes, blamed varroa mites—tiny parasites that weaken hives—and urged more research and education on proper mite control.  Times-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game is hosting a public forum today at 6 p.m. at the Magic Valley Regional Office in Jerome so people can share ideas on its 10-year plan for wildlife management, including habitat, disease control and invasive species. The meeting (lasting about one and a half hours) may run longer if many speak.  KMVT
  • Mitchell Brooks, who has served with the fire department since 1999 — including time under three fire chiefs — was named Twin Falls' new fire chief and will begin his role today.  Times-News
  • Today, contractors resume work on the Kimberly Waterline Project along Eastland Drive from just west of Locust Ave toward Sunset Street, weather permitting. Lane closures will shift eastbound traffic to the center turn lane and divert westbound drivers to the outside lane with a temporary turning lane on the inside.  KMVT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctor Gowri Rocco said nearly 32 percent of adults have allergies and warned that common triggers like tree, grass, and weed pollen, mold spores, and dust mites may affect many as spring unfolds—she advised residents to boost vitamin D, use Omega-3 supplements, and keep a healthy routine to lessen symptoms.  KMVT
