COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Spring has arrived in Twin Falls and many homeowners in newer neighborhoods are waiting to start their sprinkler systems because the Twin Falls Canal Company—responsible for pressurized irrigation—has not activated them until mid-April. Homeowners with city water can turn on their systems now but must be careful of freezing temperatures.  1310 KLIX

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new record store—Modern Sounds: Vinyl and Music—opened in Twin Falls on March 14 at 127 Main Ave W and offers vinyl records, turntables, audio gear and accessories. The store will serve local music fans with extended selection during Tuesday through Saturday hours from 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM, while closing on Mondays.  1310 KLIX
  • JOANN Fabrics and Crafts will close its eight Idaho stores as it files for bankruptcy and final closing dates will depend on inventory sellout, leaving shoppers upset when gift cards were no longer accepted—clear dates were not posted online.  1310 KLIX

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Southern Idaho’s job market is set to grow as Chobani’s expansion and True West Beef’s new operations create more work for locals and help keep families together. Officials are planning to allow homebuilding on federal land to address housing needs — a move that may fuel a construction boom.  KEZJ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis visited Idaho on Monday at the State Capitol—joined by Gov. Brad Little and Lt. Gov. Scott Bedke—as he promoted an amendment to the U.S. Constitution for a balanced federal budget. The governors said they support changes to limit federal spending if enough states back the measure.  KMVT
  • Same-sex marriages have been legal in Idaho since October 15th after a 2014 court ruling lifted bans on such unions—although current federal changes may challenge the law's future status. Idaho residents watch as lawmakers and officials consider potential impacts on marriage rights.  1310 KLIX
  • Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador warned consumers on Monday after 23andMe filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy — urging customers to log into their accounts and permanently delete their genetic data. He said the move is critical to protecting individual privacy — as the company plans to sell its corporate assets, which may include personal data.  KMVT
