  • Randy Santel, a world-famous competitive eater, completed Depot Grill’s Train Wreck challenge twice on Feb. 5, 2025 in Twin Falls (finishing the first in 16 minutes 50 seconds and the second with 6 seconds left).  1310 KLIX
  • Dozens of groups held a veterans resource fair at the College of Southern Idaho to connect veterans with benefits including health+job+mental health services. Congressman Simpson’s office organized the event to help veterans navigate a complex system.  KMVT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lent has begun on Ash Wednesday & local voices on Facebook suggested Idaho give up things like potholes and construction to welcome a season of kindness. The suggestions offer a glimpse into community ideas for self-improvement this Lenten season.  KEZJ
  • Kimberly native Rob Sturgill is planning a film fundraiser to support his upcoming ninth trip to Ukraine. He said his previous experience remains his most incredible and the fundraiser will help document his journey.  Times-News
  • Hands On (a paint-your-own-pottery studio) has provided a creative space in Twin Falls for 22 years with ceramic painting and DIY art, and owner Ashley Dubois welcomes visitors to the studio, which is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.  KMVT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nighttime detours on I-84 near Heyburn are planned for next week; each night, traffic will follow the connecting on+off ramps at Exit 211.  Times-News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ventura Foods has expanded a recall for peanut butter products to include 40 states, including Idaho. The FDA has given the recall a Class II designation and shoppers are advised to toss any recalled packets from their pantries to avoid potential health issues.  1310 KLIX

  • Randy Santel, a world-famous competitive eater, took on Depot Grill’s Train Wreck challenge twice last February in Twin Falls; he finished the first run in (16 minutes 50 seconds) and just beat the clock on the second run with six seconds remaining.  KEZJ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A new hotel — a Hilton property with 124 rooms — is under construction behind the visitor center and near Petco on the canyon rim. City officials granted special permissions to exceed height and setback rules while planning shared parking for the area.  1310 KLIX
